Mestre Piraja is one of the most respected Mestres in Capoeira today, having taught some of the most important Mestres that represent Capoeira not only in Pernambuco but all around the world. Mestre Piraja is the oldest Capoeirista from Recife, and he has received recognition from the state of Pernambuco as one of the head representatives of Capoeira from Pernambuco. Mestre Piraja taught Mestre Barrao his first step to Capoeira and now he is one of the representatives of the group.
