Mestre Boi
Master Boi is a native Brazilian who studied Capoeira for most of his life. He has been under the tutelage of many well known Masters in Brazil. At the tender age of 15, his own master saw the skills and talents Master Boi possessed and asked him to become a master. Realizing he was not ready for the responsibility, Master Boi turned this opportunity down and continued his studies in the art form in Capoeira.
In the 90s, Master Boi made his journey up North America and settled in Massachusetts. However circumstances and luck had him moved to Newark, New Jersey. Here he began to rebuild his love and passion - teaching Capoeira. This group consists of youth and adults who practice rigorously every night for two hours. They are students, construction workers, painters, filmmakers, investment bankers, computer engineers, actors, writers and artists. It is the same love of Capoeira that our Master has past on to us that compel us to share the history and art with everyone we know.
